Watch “Lance Wallnau Recounts How An ‘Anointed Cake’ Freed A Man From Homosexuality” on YouTube
Take the time and watch this video. Pastor (if you want to call him that) and Christian motivational speaker (this is a better title) shared a testimony where a man was cured of homosexuality from an anointed cake. Can you think of a more absurd and ludicrous situation that brings more reproach upon the Gospel than this? For any “on the fence” Christians out there, you were probably just pushed over to the dark side with this one, and we would not blame you. Even if this did (in some odd way) bring you into Christianity, we assure you that the basis for this kind of theology is suspect at best. So the worst Lance Wallnau did was motivate new hatred toward Christianity and the best he did was invited new believers into a house built upon the sand. Thanks!
Ridiculous testimonies such as these and anecdotal circumstances do more harm to the biblical text than help. Please, if you can not share something spiritual and exciting that cannot be substantiated from the Bible – shut up!
Who, for the love of the gospel, does Lance Wallnau think he is helping with this asinine story? Does he think some member of the LGBTQ community is watching this and will suddenly be compelled to seek the truth of God’s word? Or, most likely, this will further the cause and fervor to suppress religious expression due to obvious lunacy and potential bigotry? Most likely the latter. We advocate, if this impressed you or gave you encouragement, rethink who you may be getter your theology from, or contact us and we will gladly point you in another direction.
Finally, God does not anoint inanimate objects. Take some time and think about this: Cake is not made in the image of God, nor are deserts of any kind, or clothes, cloaks, napkins, pumpkins, moving vehicles, animals, blankets, etc… Only people are anointed with the Holy Spirit; “and it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee” (2 Corinthians 1:21-22 ESV). The elect, through regeneration by the Holy Spirit, anoints all the redeemed; “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:3-7 ESV).
Christianity, hear our cry: Stop confusing the masses with man-centered worship and just preach the word of God. All this mysticism and madness looks more like a Walter Mercado special than true evangelism. True evangelism is God-centered and biblically-based.
Do not be naïve about what you believe!
